And at home we had the big fat Random House Unabridged - I still have the 1966 edition that I received as a gift when I started what was then junior high - one of the best gifts ever! We had the World Book Encyclopedia, too - another thing you can start using as soon as you know alpha order.

As soon as you know alphabetical order you can look words up in a dictionary. In 1st and 2nd grade we had little 20,000 word dictionaries in every classroom; I don't remember what 3rd grade had but by 4th grade we had regular 80,000 word dictionaries.

I'll have to look for that recipe for pumpkin swirl cheesecake - pumpkin filling, chocolate swirl, crust is crushed chocolate cookies/biscuits instead of crudhed graham crackers.

OTOH, pumpkin pie ice cream is real pumpkin ice cream with pumpkin spice and bits of pie crust in it.
