Or Donkey Kong's design changed a lot but I think people are coming around to it, being so expressive now helps a lot. But yeah, making a whole new Sonic model that looks the same for the same purpose would be pointless but--

I used to think the complaining about Sonic's model in later games being reused from earlier ones was silly but I wonder if it's some kinda artstyle fatigue. I mean the designs didn't even technically change for Super Mario Wonder but people really like that after Mario looking the same for so long.

Maybe late 90's but tbh I still get really into the cg cutscenes for Abe's Oddysee. I do *not* know how they made it look so damn good, especially the intro... man to have a version that's higher res...
