Biggol pair of turnips fresh from my garden 🥹
MY garden - at my HOUSE 😭 It isn’t on a concrete patio this year and I didn’t have to drive 15 min to get to it. It’s right outside.
Incredible.

Our group set out in the early morning from Garibaldi, OR and traveled south to Oceanside. The fog was dense for most of the morning and was absolutely magical once it lifted!!
I caught my share of rockfish and our group split our catch evenly, so we each walked away with 3 filleted fish and 4 crabs

Watching seedlings pop their early leaves out of the soil is one of my favorite things about gardening season. Before long, these corn stalks will stand tall and proud as they sway in the breeze together.

Garden pests come hand in hand with gardening in general. We all need to eat, but I’d prefer the chance to keep my onion plants to myself.

Acorn squash soup is always welcome on a blustery day. Baked squash with roasted garlic, mixed with herbs and broth - basic and so tasty

We don’t have any chickens, but we do have a lot of stray cats in our neighborhood.
With kitten season fast approaching, or in some instances already here, there are likely to be some new mama cats in need of a safe space to rest and possibly a chance to find new homes.

Removed an old rose bush, holly shrub, an azalea, and five horrific layers of plastic landscaping fabric.
Next steps will be mixing in a few layers of soil, compost, and perlite before filling this bed with low-maintenance onions and leeks.

To transform this area, I removed all the existing flowers and shrubs, wood mulch, and many layers of plastic landscaping fabric.
I’ll be top-filling with a nutrient dense soil + compost mix before adding low-maintenance onions and leeks.

Fresh batch of handmade soap!
Olive and coconut oils + shea and cocoa butters. Scented with tangerine, sweet orange, and bergamot. Colored with spirulina and nettle powder.
They’ll be set aside to cure for several weeks, but they’re already so lovely!

Soil sifted from the back yard, bricks and materials gathered from around our property, and cardboard leftover from moving. We mixed in a bit of steer mature and filled the beds hallway. They’ll be topped with fresh soil, compost, and perlite before planting.

Spring garden cool weather crops are slowly being sown ☺️ I added two rows of onions at the back of my garden bed along the fence as they’ll not need to be disturbed until fall when they’re ready to harvest.

Vegetable garden upgrade! After years of renting, I’ve finally purchased my first home. Most of the yard is designated for corgi chaos, but they graciously allowed me to snag the spot with the most sunshine. Cool weather seeds are sown, next up will be adding a garden to the front yard as well.

Spring garden season is here! 12”x1” boards came together to create such a bountiful garden space. Even on top of concrete, the harvests I pulled from this garden always filled me with joy—and filled our plates.

Repairing clothing and items I already have instead of replacing them when they’re worn or torn takes a bit of time, but offers an even bigger reward.

Building my garden in a nutrient-poor area means lots of soil amendments. I’ve combined soils, composts, and perlite to create an airy mix packed with nutrients that’ll give my vegetables the best start possible.

Building my vegetable garden currently means sifting rocks, roots, and bits of glass from the existing soil in my yard. Currently, I’m working through the top foot or so of soil before I’ll begin mixing in soil conditioner and adding nutrient rich compost.
