I’ve always enjoyed the winter as a gardener. Planning, ideas, and reflection marry well with short days. Seeing a patch of soil between ice and snow reminds me of spring. All is quiet, sleeping, and still…for now.

Sulphur buckwheat. Most enjoyable surprise from a new batch of perennials. Red foliage in the cold months, tidy mounding habit, firework explosion of color May-July.
