I watch and study western water, build playgrounds for hummingbirds and chickadees, but it’s the huge bumblebees that bring quiet joy. Photos are my own.
Iris after rain... Smells like heaven (I hope)!

Love this iris on Mother's Day. Splendid.

Iris makes some things better. First of all my tall bearded iris looks like clouds in the sky.

Dramatic two-tone tulip.

This little nodder is such a dynamic addition to an early spring garden. Pulsatilla vulgaris.

Little ground tulips popped up this week.

This is what cheer looks like emerging through last year's debris. Be a pulsatilla!

Not spring, but feathered visitors are scouting territory. Spotted Towee featured today.

Even a late night at work has its rewards.

Tonight on my way home, I saw the sun disguised as the moon.

Dust and clouds...

Summer trudge through Sahara sand blown to Utah an eon ago. My calves and shins were sore, but my soul was in flight with awe and gratitude. #calfcreekfalls

You know the air is crisp and clear when the sunset veers to magenta. Winter solar angles.

Last night's sunset was startlingly beautiful. However, it directed my thoughts to those in LA county. A powerful half-mast reflection.

A day off baking with my daughter and an evening of sharing with friends and family. Still working on finesse, but the flavor and textures were very good! Happy New Year.

I’ve always enjoyed the winter as a gardener. Planning, ideas, and reflection marry well with short days. Seeing a patch of soil between ice and snow reminds me of spring. All is quiet, sleeping, and still…for now.

Contentment to just be.
No glamour.

Red in the morning sailors take warning... Hoping for snow!!

It's nearly winter. The garden is asleep you say? Nah, it's rejuvenating right before my eyes! Look at the soil creating macropores with freeze-thaw action. Do not tread on this!

A sunset glow on KT waves. Nice accent to my commute.

Beautiful visitor this afternoon. I hear hawk sightings should remind us that we are resilient. (Cooper's Hawk through a window.)

And just like that, the family holiday season begins...

My son moved what was left of my daughter's snowman to the porch before he mowed a couple of weeks ago. This is a sweet, funny, and now a pleasant memory.

Sulphur buckwheat. Most enjoyable surprise from a new batch of perennials. Red foliage in the cold months, tidy mounding habit, firework explosion of color May-July.

First time I’ve stopped to take a photo of the Tetons. It felt like a Western Olympus. Majestic. #nationalparks
