Linux fucks. We're waiting with open arms and forums. Linux isn't perfect for sure, but at least it's not Microsoft.

VR is a lot of fun, but it's been way too expensive for the average person. And the tech giants definitely have no idea what makes it special. Compare Gorilla Tag or VR chat to something like the Metaverse. Alyx is basically the only big budget thing to really get it imo.

Got damn, this reeled me in so fast I got whiplash.

At times it's the only way to make progress! Something I relearn the day after every late night spent futilely trying to fix some bug.

Genuinely my favorite part. Do you hate comedy???

The game will be inscrutable and have zero mechanics. It will sweep every category.

Acronym name does*
December 9, 2025 at 6:22 PM
I know this, but also I would extend it to the EU. IDGAF about geography (this is a lie, I actually think geography is super cool.) schengenified is better than "you can be part of the EU." just do what any company with an acronym name is and change it from European Union to EU, boom problem solved.
December 9, 2025 at 6:21 PM
Maybe I've lost it, but I guess I don't really care what arbitrary continent a country is on for deciding things like this. I'm a Schengen zone extremist. Canada? Schengenified. Mexico? Schengenified. Brazil? Come on in. The US (if we ever get our shit together LOL) get Schengy baby.

Whether the choices that they've made for this category are something I agree with is another question, but I haven't ever consciously paid attention to the game awards, so I don't know how they are.
December 9, 2025 at 6:06 PM
The game awards is the big names of the industry gladhanding each other no matter what, but I don't actually think it's bad to highlight an example of something every game should be doing. NOT recognizing 'prosocial' games doesn't encourage more studios to represent humanity in their games.

Give any (decent) college film student $1000, a camera and a week and they'll have something that is infinitely better. Or at the bare minimum looks like it has real people who move according to the laws of physics in it.

Very curious about this. Going to have to jump in and see how the ergonomics are. I use Bevy for all my research work, but we use Godot for our games. An editor is an absolute must have for our team, but gdscript is not really the style of language I like working in. Id rather have a bevy editor tho

It's like a car coming to a stop vs plowing into a wall. If you do all the stopping at once lots of things break, but if you brake normally everything is fine. We're doing 20-50k years of climate change in 100.
December 5, 2025 at 10:44 PM
of thousands of years, not ~ 175. Other periods of extreme change are noted in the historical record as well, but are always accompanied with large extinction events. Life will continue, but it won't necessarily continue in a way that's survivable for most humans. That's the issue.
December 5, 2025 at 10:44 PM
We actually account for those factors when doing analysis. Like you say, we have tons of data from previous hot and cold times. The rate of change is chief among the concerns with human caused climate change. There's no argument that climates change over time, but it's usually the course of 10's

The audience is not a monolith. Some of us are rightly appalled and want no part. Others have a sick fascination with whatever is wrong with your taste buds. Half the fun in seeing those monstrosities is being appalled.

Bespoke is sick, I'm using it instead of going $15k in debt to get a bunch of off the shelf hardware synths or giving into my Electrical Engineering brain that says "you can totally build your own euro rack modules from available schematics, RadioShack components, and solder fumes."
December 4, 2025 at 7:20 AM
I've always wanted to learn Ableton. I've heard it's really powerful, but I started on a totally legally obtained copy of FL studio like 15 years ago and Ableton is just different enough to make me go back to FL. Now I'm playing with Bespoke synth, which is an open source modular synth/DAW thing.
