What we have is a very short term vision by politicians tied to political cycles, pure blue sky research 🔬 that leads to groundbreaking discoveries (often at a tangent to the starting point). When so little money is spent on R&D we need eccentric boffins that doesn’t lead to a commercial result

This is 100% correct, coal and gas power plants are only still operating now because of government subsidies, not because they are profitable. Roof top solar is being turned off by power providers to keep coal plants running

I would say a majority

The LNP is not in government, their numbers are now so small they are irrelevant. This net zero policy backflip will make sure the Liberals suffer more losses in the next election. Chasing the extreme right wing voters is a pathway to political oblivion

Farmer are amongst the biggest uptake of solar power and batteries for one simple reason, it’s cheaper and more convenient than grid power from fossil fuels. And in more remote locations it makes even more sense to move away from diesel fuel generation.

Albo does have Whitlam problem in a way, the LNP doesn’t have a majority in the Senate like they did during the Whitlam years, but Whitlam didn’t have to herd a bunch of Greens and the odd independent to pass his legislation, just battle the LNP blackmail

Agree, it’s very poor value for the taxpayer dollar. In-house public servants are always better value and government in-house services are subject to audit by the Federal Auditor Generals department. It’s just a better system of checks

Agree about the NDIS, but the prime problem across all care sectors funded by the Federal Government is the lack of oversight and proactive enforcement. The Feds have to step up and manage these for profit operators that they have surrendered their responsibilities to
November 11, 2025 at 11:56 PM
Oh but we can afford to subsidise fossil fuel power stations and approve coal seam gas and open cut coal mines destroying productive farm land.
November 11, 2025 at 11:00 PM
I think you are blaming the wrong Prime Minster, it was under Howard’s watch that the care industry was turned into a profit making investment product which has has seen “care” downgraded into abuse and starvation

November 10, 2025 at 3:02 AM
It’s crazy how the Nationals are constantly dumping on renewables while farmers are shutting the gate on coal seam gas and gas pipelines and putting up solar panels and batteries so they can disconnect from the grid which is subsiding coal mines and coal fired power stations

Hasties fixation with this extreme right wing version of religious politics will never become mainstream in Australia. And his anti immigration views blaming migrants for all the ills aren’t going to resonate either with the majority of voters. The demographics will defeat him

My ex wife had numerous endo symptoms (she knew she had endo) including pain during intercourse. She didn’t join the dots on that. I got her to see a gyno about it. He’s trying to insert the speculum, telling her to relax (he’s hurting her) and says that is her problem

When my parents did their grand tour of Europe they had no trouble conversing with northern Germans (Frankfurt etc) but when they reached Bavaria they had not a clue of what the locals were saying, different dialect
November 8, 2025 at 9:09 PM
Probably the same German dialect that my parents spoke, that is still spoken in northern Germany. Germans emigrated to Texas about the same time that my German ancestors emigrated to South Australia under an assisted migration scheme
