I do not use genAI but I see the fallout from those that do. It is not a practical thing.

Peak's pretty good at this. Some food items are one-shots, sure. But others you can nibble over time. The shared health bar for damage, stamina, temperature, encumberance and so on is excellent.
And that's before you get into the effects of starvation...
