The best graphic of earth’s temperature over time that I’ve seen is from xkcd. It provides much needed context to the RATE of change as opposed to just mean surface temp. Plus it’s funny! xkcd.com/1732/

This misconception likely stems from the fact that Americans don’t get earth sciences anymore after middle school. Trying to explain “solid that over geological timespans acts as a liquid” is pretty tough for an 11 year old. “Molten rock” makes explaining convection so much easier.

I understand the motivation behind this (to get more data to train the model) but given the current political climate and the increasing attacks on free speech this feature is immediately disqualifying.

Including the “I believe defense wins championships” on this graphic is an excellent dunk.
