Building a house

Just my experiences building a house
DIY stucco would be cheap, functional, but not pretty. Professional stucco would be 20ish €/m2 not counting materials. Panels would be 35ish €/m2 not counting accessories and labour. Though assembly could be DIYed, the question on cost of accessories remain. Decisions, decisions..

Got to the top. Window is on the way. When that is installed, could finish the corners (window sill?) and leave for winter. 2nd coat is needed for smooth finish if you go with stucco. Otherwise this is lagom. Need to calc costs. If I could afford panel sidings like JamesHardie, I would be happy

Not pictured is the preparation. If you have infra on your property, make sure to mark it.

Oh and that section over 3m will be fun. Need to build some platform…

Those tools do come handy though. I just like the combination on how that sounds.

Bonus. Who doesn’t carry cement mixer and 7 packs of mix in their boot? Oh, and set of tires. And a showel, rope, duct tape, garbage bags, saw and large knife.

Also adding insulation to area between beams. 30cm of mineral wool. Overkill, I know. In end, mesh from wall will be extended and this area covered. Currently it’s glued, but there are planned screws to hold in place. Now only to find 32-35 cm screws for it.

Also used remaining palette of blocks to raise side windows by 60cm. That will lower the cost of them hopefully.

Still deciding between ventilated facade options or plain stucco. Idea of painting wooden facade every 5-7yrs does not sound fun.

I guess I should have used #newbuild #selfbuild

Commercial production of hemp is still oil dependent. U value not the best, hence state codes require thicker walls. Overall if price would match other existing insulation materials, why not. Although prefab makers would benefit the most as individual builders like to stick to tried out things.

And yea, the interior walls were like 14 days total.

Also closed off with OSB the area for insulation.

It’s actually dark outside. iPhone makes it look like daylight

Interior walls is the thing you can do it yourself. Gotta to learn it, not as fast as a pros, tricky, but doable.
