From the ever compelling, amusing and politically insightful @russincheshire.bsky.social comes his brilliant piece for the Byline Supplement on taxing the rich. Here's a small taster of it but read the whole, well-researched long read. It's fun - plus it hits multiple nails on the head.

Don't often share petitions but this one should have support. Details of the petition wording here:

Here is Winston Churchill on a White House visit during World War II.
Like Zelensky, also the leader of a country at war, desperately defending his country, he isn’t wearing a suit either.

Absolutely, this👇

I'm still not happy that a Labour MSP is denigrating the work of NHS Scotland staff without giving any sort of context and without any acknowledgement that NHS Scotland is doing well. Australia thinks so too...

Compare and contrast. The BBC rightly had a special programme on tonight about the shocking wildfires, forces of nature, destroying whole neighbourhoods in LA with at least five tragic deaths and more expected.
The BBC on Gaza? 100s of 1000s dead by Israeli forces.
Almost as if its not happening.

This is one of the Lab Health Minister's priorities for NHS England? Seriously?
Thank goodness the SNP-run Scottish Government makes their priority keeping up funding of, increasing performance of & resisting privatisation of NHS Scotland, not checking whether staff object to the slaughter in Gaza!

Here's the history of SNP-led Scottish Government affordable housing below. Not perfect but best of the countries of Britain. Then the graph below shows it continues.
This is the context and comparisons Scot are so rarely given in the MSM...

NHS England and NHS Scotland...roughly comparable outcomes???
Nope. Here's just one slice of recent history. Plenty more of different metrics

Well, because the Scottish Gov had already in 2022 introduced a much more applicant friendly version of the English PIP. An extract here from the IFS report:

SNP-run NHS Scotland: overall best performing & only strike-free health service in Britain. More hospital docs, nurses, (better paid too) GPs & beds as %age of pop than NHS England or Labour-run NHS Wales (which has performed particularly poorly.)Not perfect, but well done NHS Scotland. History👇

Look at the recent history, too. SNP-run NHS Scotland: overall best performing, strike- free, with more hospital docs, nurses & beds as %age of pop than NHS England & Labour-run NHS Wales (which has performed particularly poorly.) Not perfect, but well done NHS Scotland.

"Eyeless in Gaza" by Peter Jukes, Byline Times.
"In Gaza, we remain not only publicly ignorant of, but materially complicit in the brutal crimes committed against innocent people. It is a wilful blindness which is, sadly, sure to feed more conflict in the future." Bit cheeky of me to reproduce -soz!

Exactly what happens with the many excellent social-justice policies the SNP have put in place over their years of mitigating Tory austerity policies: just not reported by the overwhelmingly right wing/unionist MSM. Stuff like this never gets to a larger audience. Tap below for origin of the info:

The SNP-led Scottish Government has been mitigating Tory austerity for years. So many more progressive social justice policies than Labour even aspires to. The SNP is well to the left of Labour now. Why is Labour not doing all this?? Sadly the MSM too right wing/unionist to report it.

The view from here. A light dusting of snow between bouts of glorious sunshine. A 'fresh' day.

Young Carer Grant - only available in Scotland 👇

Luckily for NHS Scotland he's the English Health Secretary...

Think the killer line below is "What do they think their money buys?"
October 31, 2024 at 9:07 PM
Right wing press having a field day with it...but as one pundit said very recently, he remembers Dennis Skinner refusing a cup of coffee from a journalist lest he might look compromised.
That's the level of integrity I'd like -not Lab MPs taking dosh from private health interests like Tories do...

This 👇doesn't give one much hope. NHS Scotland (devolved thankfully) has a chance to maintain its position as best overall performing, only strike-free NHS service but as Labour privatises NHS Eng the Barnet Consequentials to NHS Scot (best paid staff & more hosp docs, nurses& beds) will reduce.
