Nice! Something I’ve noticed for many decades: Robber flies follow me when I hike. Maybe I stir up small insects that they attack?

They do squeak when you hold them, but that’s hard to photograph 😉

If you’re in coastal Southern California, check the flowers for caterpillars of sulphur butterflies. Most often Phoebis sennae, the cloudless sulphur, and Phoebis agarithe, the large orange sulphur
