settlers are uncomfortable with their positionality as is, but settlers of colour can often have a fragility around their dynamic as both a perpetuator/benefactor of colonisation whilst still being of an oppressed racialised group. This then leans towards a focus on the obvious racial dynamics in shows and characters, but rarely considers an Indigenous lens or interpretation (see: any Zaunite that's not obviously melanated being white, despite the pretty distinct racialisation and profiling that all Zaunites are shown to experience, which would contradict said whiteness – if we're using whiteness as a category of race and power, and not a literal description of melanin tone, which, clearly, everyone is). This then also translates into an invisibility of Indigenous narratives or interpretations of media and themes (Some.) arcane fans can see the commentary on class division, capitalism, oppression, state violence etc but so many of them cannot connect that to the innate relationship all of the above have with race, and specifically, Indigenous people.
