I can see your point about fixed terms providing certainty. However fixed terms can be any length, so not an argument for an extra year.

If there are good reasons, then its good to state those reasons.

I was questioning the argument that 4 year terms are better than 3 year terms because it saves money on election costs.

You complaining democracy costs too much ?

How about voters decide when their term ends... give us a way to trigger an early election.

I'm sure they want infinity length terms, they can't have it.

They dont actually "wear out", but there is no doubt an upgrade cycle when installing a bigger system, and maybe damage I guess.

Hard disagree on that.

Your logic is so twisted I suspect your attempting to sabotage COP30 and action on climate change.

High quality propaganda though, you should go work for a government.

I really wish some would tell politicians to attack the business model rather than users. eg right to be forgotten, users primary ownership rights over their personal data etc.
To be a politician you need to be dumb with tech, opposite brain type.

Google has plans for two cables from aus mainland, only other cable to CI is Vocus, which goes to Singapore.

All i can think is they must be planing a military signal gathering hub to support subs, even if cables cut.

Maybe related to Deigo Darcia sovereignty issues ?
November 7, 2025 at 7:16 AM
Wondered why they are building a cable to there (two actually, another to Darwin.
From a network pov, it's half way to Singapore which is arguably the second most important regional hub.
I expect they will cancel it, environment, power. It won't be ai anyway
