We just got back from voting. We voted for every Democrat on the ballot and threw the Republican endorcement paperwork in the garbage before we went in the building. It feels so good to exercise the right to vote. Why on Earth would anyone vote for candidates who work to take our choices away?

Today would be my father's 109th birthday. Richard Cornelius enlisted in the Army and fought against fascism during WWII. He would be appalled at what is happening in America today. I miss him very much but am glad he is not here to witness the destruction of the democracy he fought to preserve.

My neighbor had this old mattress in their front yard at the beginning of summer. I got so tired of looking at it that I reported them to our local government. The neighbor then moved it to the back of their house around the 4th of July. Now it's on display again for the Labor Day holiday. Geez.

I finally understand why the Democrats' response to trump's destruction of democracy has been so tepid and feckless. Most of the representatives and senators are multimillionaires. They aren't working for us they're working for themselves. We're really on our own against this fascist takeover.
