OMG those NMR lab temperatures! I used to keep all mine at 19C (66F) with little or no diurnal variation - we were in the basement. Students complained lots for a few winter months but took refuge there for the summer. Machines happy all the time.

Not very interesting - we went to the shelter. Couldn’t cope with Angelica and daughter Megan … so they became Angel (r) and Buffy (l) … more than 10 years ago.

Me: can you filter this before we run it?
User: it will all dissolve if you use a heat gun before you put it in the magnet

That A3 laser was an expensive revaluation. Almost as much of a shock as the ATR infrared machine.

Of course we used 8-character file names; it’s what you did.

Pens lasted quite a while and had different colours for spectrum, integral and scale. But - this was our first machine with gradients - we ran more scans in 2Ds than S/N required otherwise the plotter got too far behind. All changed when we got one of the first A3 laser printers.

That’s a real can of worm. I had someone wanting information on samples of SeS2 for use testing/quality control. Made some great xtals trying to get it onto hot dichlorobenzene-d4. Big swathes of peaks, no structure to it. Ph2Te2 and PhTe- compounds much neater.

I had a TBO on a 500 with 1H, 31P and BB so you could do 13C[1H, 31P] and the like. Sensitivity on the fixed 31P wasn’t great.
