This morning, while I was reading this fantastic picture book, it occurred to me that though I've read plenty about James Baldwin and watched I Am Not Your Negro, I somehow haven't read any of his books. Where should I start?

It turns out the NCTE FOMO can happen even if you attend! What an absolute whirlwind this first #NCTE24 experience was -- I felt plenty busy but also like there were so many things I wish I'd done and people I wish I'd seen and selfies I wish I'd taken with everyone I *did* see!

WHEW! What a whirlwind first #NCTE. I had a blast meeting educators & presenting w/ fellow authors & signing books . . . but I also walked off with someone else's dongle after my 2:45 sporty books panel yesterday afternoon! If you volunteered yours, please DM me! I will mail it back to you.

Are these the circumstances I hoped to be going to my first NCTE under? Absolutely not! But I look forward to being in community with fellow creatives and in dialogue with educators about how we can better support them in the coming four years. <3 If you're going to NCTE too, I'd love to see you!

"Have you ever seen a bison pee on a geyser?" was not a question I anticipated answering at yesterday's Books by the Banks Book Festival in Cincinnati, but I was excited to hear more regardless! You never know what you'll learn or discuss at a gathering of bookish introverts.
