From an #embodied POV the MAHA crowd celebrate & promote rigidity

A rigid embodiment orients to non-rigidity as “weak” & “soft” … unable to become properly rigid

Rigidity enables (seeks) intensity & projection more than any other embodiment style
Reichian "body armoring" is (unconsciously?) employing muscular tension to radically, immediately dampen affective experience ... to "block" experience .... the propensity to "armor" grows when one acquires "strong muscle" ... and/or uses that muscle w "high intensity" regularly

What’s the difference between compromise and capitulation? Compromise trades concessions. Capitulation pays ransom to stop deliberate suffering, and teaches your opponent that coercion works. There are effective responses to coercive bargaining. What we saw was not one of them.

My off-the-cuff #opinion

people “on the left” fear exposure, social judgment

people “on the right” fear restrictions, social requirements

Understanding unconscious projective dynamics does not grant anyone immunity, escape or mastery of their own unconscious projective dynamics

Mostly b/c humans are built this way

“Emotions are social in nature. We...communicate and share them with others. Copying emotions, like fear, is a fundamental part of the way we understand each other."

Pleasure to speak with Sarah Philip for Popular Science about fear contagion.

Is fear contagious?
Fear isn’t just personal—it spreads through sight, smell, and even subconsciously.

If you have a body, you are #embodied … even if you never, ever think about your body

An embodied POV doesn’t ask IF you embody

An embodied POV asks HOW you embody

and IF you can modify HOW you embody when you want to

All while discussing your partner, kid, job, life, etc

"A person can become free through acts of disobedience by learning to say no to power... If I am afraid of freedom, I cannot dare to say 'no'. I cannot have the courage to be disobedient. Indeed, freedom and the capacity for disobedience are inseparable."

This am we had a present of 4 pairs of socks at the foot of the bed. She’s been doing this for days. When we put the socks away, she is very vocal when she brings them back out. Easy to anthropomorphize her complaining about how she just fixed stuff, and has to do again!?!!

The alpha cat in our house will do this 3-4x a week …

1/ jump up to top of tall dresser
2/ open top dresser drawer
3/ find socks, take one out
4/ drop sock present(s) by our bed

My critique of psychoanalysis isn’t that the model is “wrong” at all … just that one facet “isn’t always right”

That element is the primacy of reflective separation … “containment” & “mentalizing” functions that make clarity & space in swells of affect & boundary permeability

Topdog vs underdog is a classic #gestalt polarity
The thing that bothers me so much is not the “we have to enforce our borders and laws.” We do.

It’s the giddy joy and celebration they have at the misery of people far less fortunate.
