Frankly, this makes Apple's approach make sense. They have godly amounts of liquidity which means that they don't have to bother doing their own investment if they can get other's at a fire sale price.

Basically, I don't know if software development is the right background for actually being the firm that is able to get the value out of this over valuation moment. Slow and steady, low volatility, and cash on hand wins the day when you are in a race to the bottom.

Same piece had a narrative that google is quickly catching up and that its scale and revenue will eat the others alive in that segment. There's something to that and I think that its telling they are actually managing this as infra investment.
