Why does playing career seem to factor into coaching opportunities compared to other US sports? Andy Reid may have played football in college, but it’s not like his playing career won him a HC job. For CITY, why does Olof’s playing career factor into a coaching job?

Would elite coaching (Pep’s or Klopp’s for example) influence really change CITYs record in 2024 given the injuries and roster?

How much does a coach actually influence a season’s outcome? Does a coach have greater influence on a teams record than an elite DP’s influence would be?

“Definitely a lot to dive into”… ok a bunch of dumb questions that are related to coaching from a lifelong CITY and MLS fan (2 years). You don’t have to answer any of these but from a person relatively new to the professional sport (we all played as kids) I just have questions.
