"Buddhism is a religion of the heart. Only this. One who
practices to develop the heart is one who practices Buddhism."

The Dharma (aka Buddhism) is like the Ocean: vast, deep, and gradual in its slope - no sudden precipices.

This simile reminds us that spiritual understanding deepens over time, not through force, but through gentle, consistent effort.

Loving-Kindness (Metta) 🪷

Cultivating Metta involves sending goodwill to all beings, fostering compassion and connection.

Metta begins with extending kind thoughts to oneself, then gradually to loved ones, strangers, and even those we find difficult. 🙏🙏

Mumonkan, or The Gateless Gate, is a collection of Zen Koans that serve as tools for awakening beyond conceptual thought.

Each Koan is a riddle or paradox that cannot be solved through logic, pushing the practitioner to leap beyond the thinking Mind.

Mandalas represent the universe and the Mind's structure, used in meditation to realize the interconnectedness of all. In Tibetan Buddhism, they are often made from colored sand - meant to be destroyed after completion. This deliberate dissolution expresses the core truth of impermanence. 🙏

Ten Thousand Things, One Suchness 🪷

Zen sees the world not as separate pieces, but as one Suchness. Washing a bowl, walking, breathing - it’s all Buddha nature. Enlightenment is not elsewhere. It’s Here, in Now. 🙏

The Sound of One Hand ☸️

“What is the sound of one hand clapping?”

This Zen Koan can’t be answered by logic. It’s a gate - not to answers - but to Direct Experience. It's message is to go Beyond thinking... It teaches the Art of Listening. 🙏

A student asked a Zen Master, “Who am I?” The master replied, “Who’s asking?” Zen doesn’t solve the question - it dissolves it. What remains? Just this moment. 🙏

The Lotus Blooms in Mud 🪷

The Lotus Sutra teaches that even the most ordinary person holds the seed of Buddhahood. Like the lotus, enlightenment arises not in spite of the mud - but through it. 🙏🙏

In Buddhism, Shunyata (Emptiness) doesn’t mean nothing exists. Emptiness means nothing exists independently on its own. Everything is connected. Things and Phenomenon are Empty of their own independent existence. 🙏

Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, is said to hear the cries of the world. In the Heart Sutra, he teaches that form is emptiness, and emptiness is form - wisdom and compassion are one. 🙏

The Bodhisattva Vow ☸️

In Mahayana Buddhist tradition, the Bodhisattvas don’t seek Nirvana for themselves alone. They vow to return again and again until all beings are freed from suffering. Compassion is a lifelong path. 🙏🙏

Nirvana isn’t a place - it’s the extinguishing of greed, hatred, and delusion. The Buddha described it as peace, freedom, and the unbinding of the heart. 🙏🙏

Before enlightenment, The Buddha (as Siddhartha Gautama) practised extreme asceticism. He later realized that both (worldly) indulgence and (spiritual) self-mortification miss the point. Balance is the path - this is the Middle Way. 🙏🙏

The Fire Sermon ☸️

“All is burning,” said The Buddha in the Adittapariyaya Sutta (Samyutta Nikaya, Pali Canon) - burning with greed, hatred, and delusion. The path to peace begins when we see this clearly and stop fueling the fire. 🙏

In the Alagaddupama Sutta, The Buddha warns that clinging to teachings is like grabbing a snake by the tail - it will bite. The Dhamma is a tool, not something to be clung to. 🙏

In the Anapanasati Sutta (Majjhima Nikaya - Pali Canon), The Buddha teaches mindfulness of breathing as a complete path to awakening. Awareness of breath calms the body, clarifies the Mind, and leads to insight into impermanence. 🙏🙏

"Whoever sees dependent origination sees the Dhamma."
~ Majjhima Nikaya (Pali Canon).

This Buddhist teaching shows how all things arise in dependence on causes. Nothing exists independently - not even suffering. See this, and clinging falls away. ☸️

The Buddha’s First Teaching ☸️

After His Enlightenment, The Buddha set the Wheel of Dharma in motion by teaching The Four Noble Truths at Deer Park in Sarnath. This marked the beginning of 45 years of compassionate teaching that offered a clear path out of suffering. 🙏

In the Mahatanhasankhaya Sutta, a monk named Sati believed consciousness was a permanent entity (like a Soul). Lord Buddha corrected him - Consciousness is not fixed, but like a flame, rising and fading with each moment - Moment to Moment.
