I've said this before, but, as something of an Indiana politics knower, I think the fact that Trump and Vance want them to draw a 9-0 map was a big reason for hesitance among Senate Rs
most of them are Pence/Holcomb types who aren't comfortable dismantling André Carson's maj-min district

the night he beat Hillary, almost none of the takes i had were useful/ended up being true, but the lone exception came after seeing Trump's margins in the rural/midsize counties in Indiana compared to Eric Holcomb's in the concurrent gov race, and i was immediately like "this guy is just GOP Obama"
