2014 Chateau Musar.

Delicious as always. Give it some time in the decanter and you’ll get all the lovely red fruits & velvety tannins.

Cheers friends.

2018 Farella Merlot.

Good structure & lovely cherry notes.

Thanks to Sideways it is still possible to get amazing Merlot for way under market value. Cheers!

Happy Pinot Noir Day!

2007 Andromeda tonight. I love Sean Thackrey’s wines, love drinking them, and sadly miss one of the most iconic American winemakers every time I get one.

Cheers!

I have the “newer” printing with Dennet’s intro.

Thank you for reminding me of a book I haven’t thought about for at least 15 years.

Occasionally I miss some good finance content from the old place.

Thanks to Phil Bak for this gem.

Regardless of the food I hope you had some good wine tonight. I went with this 2018 Farella Merlot.

Such a great example of California Merlot. Lovely spices and black cherry with silky tannins. #BQWines

2019 Aperture Red Blend. Great Napa producer but owned by a Houstonian - felt like the right bottle to watch the UH game. #BQWines

2019 Laurea Accendo Cellars.

Awesome Bordeaux blend. Lots of minerality for a red wine, medium tannin, lovely fruit. If you don’t know Accendo Cellars please get to know them. Amazing winery. #BQWines

After fasting for blood work, I’m pretty sure the correct way to break the fast is a margarita. Right?

It feels right.

Houston has a massive tunnel system too… because it’s too damn hot & muggy the majority of the year to be outside.

Dinner.

2019 Rockgarden Vineyard Syrah from K Vinters.

One of the most Saint-Joseph styled Rhône wines I’ve had from a US producer. Lots of spice, pepper, and even some savory elements. Cheers!
