I'll leave that to your imagination.
The Sailors were independent while the rest of the NYP had affiliates. So Erie could pick up anyone, and the average age of the team was around 23.5 years old, including 27-year-old Tommy Mitchell. The Utica Blue Sox were the next oldest team, averaging 21.1 years. Watertown was the youngest (20).

correctly, he was married and his wife was pregnant, so kicking around the NY-P League wasn't going to cut it. He went on to coach a couple of years at Hillcrest High School in Utah and is currently a Healthy Lifestyles Teacher there.

list and was told he'd never play pro ball again. He said he was done anyway, so that didn't matter. Not sure if that's true, but I believe he saw the writing on the wall ... a 24-year-old playing short-season A ball of an independent team doesn't scream future big leaguer. If I remember correctly,

Daniels walked 25 times (against 24 Ks) in 155 plate appearances. He had speed - four triples - but was only two for seven stealing. He left the team mid-season. Rumor was a teammate stole his stereo and the manager backed the other guy. Daniels was placed on some type of administrative suspension

That same draft, I was the Assistant General Manager of the Erie Sailors of the New York–Penn League, and we selected Brigham Young outfielder Gary Daniels with our lone pick. Daniels played in 41 games that year (.258/.391/.355), his only season as a pro.

Marquis was playing for Jamestown in '88 and, in a game against Erie, was hit in the head with a pitch. I was an intern for Erie and drove him and the Jamestown trainer to the hospital so he could get checked out. The team bus swung by the hospital after the game to pick them up before heading home.
