Yeah absolutely new companies and products shouldn't be developed in C++ in the same way nobody would start a Cobol or Fortran project.

As a C/C++ developer I can't agree. It's standardised more than enough. The machines use it. No car, no factory, no telecommunication without C++.
If you want to put it down not without replacing billions lines of code first.
