WIP Illustration of an anthro cheetah and fox hybrid cautiously treading through a fungal forest. The cheetah is uneasy, while the fox is assessing their surroundings. I started this back in February (feels like years ago..) so there's definitely some style discrepancies. Mostly finishing for the sake of finishing and to practice rendering/applying new techniques. Sketch of an anthro cat and leopard in a moonlit room Hoping the rendering makes Aamon look a bit more their age? I feel like the colour scheme is a good part of it here. Aamon basically has the feline equivalent of a baby face in this universe thanks to their folded ears, rex coat, and big ol BSH eyes (they're about 27 in this part of the story) and it's one of the many reasons they're put down or not taken seriously (mostly with other mammals, non-mammalians tend to be indifferent about how they look). I'm also keeping in mind that domestic cats don't visibly age the way dogs do. I've noticed it's either a very subtle or incredibly drastic change in appearance, with the latter usually being due to illness. Rambles about Aamon and general world-building aside, I'm working with colour theming for certain arcs and having them evolve with said arc. Wanted to visualize just how drastically Aamon and Sitri's deteriorated over time. Sketch of an anthro cat hiding from a giant spider-like creature Tricky one, not sure how it'll end up in the end. This is in the first part of the story and prelude to a big reveal. Sketch of an anthro deer and sheep embracing under the moonlight. Been looking back at Bambi a lot in terms of art and colour inspiration for Camellia's arc. Actually might explain the colours for the previous sketch since Bambi really liked its contrast for the more intense scenes. This bit in particular is inspired by the romance scene with Bambi and Faline.

Bimonthly "not just doomscrolling" update. I've been sketching traditionally a lot more too. Been working on the more intense/emotional scenes I have planned out for the AU. Expressions are fun.

Been defining the background more, started to work on Aamon's gown more. Can't see because of the cropping, but Yarbre's body has been rendered more. Also fixed the lighting in his eyes cause it seemed off. These hands are gonna kill me. This scene is actually the big precursor to the next one. Aamon finds a love letter from Yarbre, requesting to meet up at a forest clearing. Aamon is ecstatic since they've been in love with Yarbre and it feels like something is finally going their way for once in their life. Unfortunately, the letter was meant for their sister, Camellia. WIP illustration of an enraged naga-like creature preparing a fireball while they're holding their target, an anthro sheep, with their tail. They are both sobbing. I legit do not know if this needs a filter or not. This is a pretty critical moments in the siblings' relationship. Camellia has always been the golden child of the cult and Aamon was often neglected. The two have always been close despite this, and Millie is often standing up for Aamon and trying to be supportive of them whenever she's able to. Aamon loves their sister and knows she has their best interest at heart, but they harbor a lot of bottled-up resentment and jealousy towards her, since she gets opportunities they're denied and is generally viewed in a more favorable light by everyone (especially their birth parent). Yarbre admitting his feeling for Camellia is what ultimately breaks them. WIP illustration of an anthro cat and leopard in conflict. The leopard has the cat pinned against the wall and is getting in their face. I'm not sure how deep I want to get into this one since it's more recent and most subject to changes. Aamon does come out of this interaction physically ok, but it rattles them.

There were multiple animal and nature blogs that left the site for good because so many of their pics were flagged as porn and they got shadowbanned.

Meanwhile the pornbots were probably the worst they ever were for a few years after.

With Artfight being over, I've been going back and forth between my WIPs for larger pieces to try and finish something. ALT text has commentary.

Another old one I'm coming back to. The knife brush is letting me add more details I couldn't before with my old brush. I'm going to be tweaking the poses as much as I can at this stage; I really want to emphasize how cruel Anavel is to Aamon (and specifically to Aamon and other meeker cult members; this is immediately followed by Camellia getting involved and Anavel very quickly backing off when she does), as well as how little confidence Aamon has in themself at this point of the story. Cropped because Yarbre, the cow, is always topless and surgery as a whole for the AU is very rudimentary (It's largely limited to laceration/simple wound repairs and more straightforward foreign body removals, like removing an arrow or spine. Anything more is VERY high risk and generally avoided. I do want to expand on this more with Camellia's overall arc of becoming a doctor and discovering new medicines and techniques). I'll post this separately when its done, I just didn't want bluesky to blanket filter everything :/ Anyways this was supposed to just be a sketch to come back to later but it ended being another addition to WIP hell. Bovine faces are surprisingly challenging to draw. I'm fairly pleased with the colours here, though I might make the final version a little warmer, we'll see. I started this one several months ago so it's gonna be interesting how it comes out. I'm almost certainly redoing this one at some point; I want Leraje to be a lot more irritated (almost angry) by Camellia's presence and I don't think the pose/expression emphasizes it enough. I also just wanna try this palette again with the new layer effects I've started to incorporate. WIP Illustration of an anthro deer and sheep moving through a thick and bizarre forest with mutant flora. They are both VERY annoyed and frustrated with each other. The sheep is wiping petals off of her dress and is visibly flushed with anger. The deer is pushing away some tree branches, exposing the light. This one is the closest to being done, I don't know why I torture myself with the leaves on Leraje's outfit, but I do. Also ended up getting really into the background for this one.
