It’s not directly Japanese, but this theme song is just too 80s to ignore. Alf was pretty popular here in Japan (it was broadcast by NHK!), so that makes it honorary bubble era media.
I know everyone's gonna be posting their favorite Simpsons clips, but did you know Alf (Clausen) did music for ALF (the TV show), including the theme?

The CDing line of tapes offered lengths that allowed users to record an entire disc on to a tape. The advertisement here draws a comparison of this “perfect fit” for CDs with the form-fitting bodycon dress that was popular with stylish women of the time.

In the mid 1980's, there was a spicy food boom in Japan as a direct result of the growing economy and the demand for new and interesting foods. This included curry, of course.
