The rescission package that would gut federal funding for public media is now in the Senate.

This funding clawback threatens everything from public safety alerts to local cultural and educational programs.

Standing outside the Buffalo Grand Hotel, Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon has announced that the city of Buffalo will start the initial steps to take ownership of the building, which has sat vacant since 2020 and suffered intense fire damage in late 2021. BTPM NPR will have more on this developing story.

Sweet Home CSD is currently in lockdown due to an internal threat called into the building and the Amherst Police Department.

Police are currently investigating the incident. There have been no reports of injuries to any students and staff at this time. BTPM NPR is working to learn more.

ONGOING: Local firefighters are responding to a fire at 36 Church Street. Law enforcement have blocked off multiple streets in the area, including parts of Franklin and Church Streets. Buffalo Toronto Public Media will provide more updates as they're available.
