On a hopeful note, we seem to have hit somewhat of a plateau in terms of AI capability. As the hype dies down, we’ll be able to better understand its limits and come up with tools and policies against nefarious use cases.

A good example is an adult impersonating a minor on a children’s website. Subtle linguistic clues can be difficult for humans to detect, but we can train specialized AI tools to assist in these types of investigations. The goal is not to let AI “take the wheel,” but to find the needle in the noise.
