The discussions among the artists, editors, and even a kashihon-ya proprietor are great, but what elevates the book to something precious are the exhaustive endnotes (done by Yamada Tomoko ヤマダトモコ) glossing all the half-remembered names thrown out by the old timers. A staggering achievement!

There is a lot of fascinating detail about the differences between Tokyo and Osaka publishing culture, and especially about the role of anthologies published by Wakagi Shobo.
