There's a hope that the new faregates (with the overhead bar, power, and data connections) will be able to have displays mounted to them for this stuff, but it's all a matter of money, as always.

The goal is to get that changed over ASAP to prevent delays if there are any issues. IMO if you see the sign with no ETD listed, walk briskly - if you hear the door close warning (which is hella long), then run.

Not while the old ones also exist anywhere in the system (they all use one data feed) and afaik there's no plan or money to replace any more of them at the moment.

They do show the ETD until the train is switched to the departing program (after the cab end is swapped). That cuts it to the standard "train is at the platform" screen based on the platform antenna. The behavior is baked into the system unfortunately

Absolutely absurd how badly they've dropped the ball on this one. Glad the discount cards get the priority but that'd have been good to know earlier too!

I do not know if they are but I wouldn't hold your breath.

And of course, tapping with a phone that has a digital Clipper card on it won't trigger transfer discounts, but tapping with a phone that does not (and using a standard credit/debit payment method) will! It's going to be *really* confusing to use for some time.

I'm not sure how this rollout in particular meets equitability requirements when you have specific discounts that are not available to those that are unbanked and are using fare media that they may have just gotten!

You should (sigh) calculate the cheaper fare each trip you take based on number of transfers and figure out before you go which will be lower.
