Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles. Two doses of the MMR vaccine are 97% effective against measles. If you're wondering if you should get (re)vaccinated against measles, here is a helpful chart.

Talk to your health care provider.** If you were vaccinated between 1963 and 1968 and received an inactivated measles vaccine or just one dose, You likely should get vaccinated. Talk to your health care provider.** *People with HIV who were vaccinated before the establishment of effective antiretroviral therapy and do not have evidence of current severe immunosuppression should be revaccinated. **People who should not receive the MMR vaccine include people who have had a severe allergic reaction after a previous dose, have an allergy to a vaccine component, have severe immunodeficiency, or are pregnant.
