Family. Padres, Liverpool, Keep the Faith! Phil Collins-Genesis (that’s right)!
We all have a duty to do good.
You are right. For sure.
But, It’s not what he did…it’s the hope of what he can do that they’ll pay for. He wants years. I wouldn’t be shocked if he gets 4/85 ish.

Everything. Exactly what you’ve said. Boggles the mind. They are held to zero accountability. Those very rare times they might be, they lie and blame. They are the ‘me and now’ party. They don’t care about people outside of their drivers seat.
No healthcare plan in forever.
Just rip it down.

He was pretty respected as an elder statesman when he played for us towards the end of his career. We will see. His teammates spoke highly of him. But in the end I think it comes from inside each player. I don’t think we’re gonna see Manny running out grounders no matter who the manager is.

I think Stammen will motivate him. People want someone make Manny hustle. It’s unrealistic nowadays. The days of Dick Williams, Leyland, Billy Martin are gone. How many managers has Manny had?? He has more power than the mgr. He hopefully respects Stammen.
He will hustle only when he wants to.

Great call!

I thought it was a great story of perseverance and trust. I enjoyed it. It hit home in many ways for a kid growing up with a somewhat similar familial background. Acting was great.

I don’t know…He deserved it with his homeless work regardless of the Padresing we’ve witnessed. I wonder if he wasn’t the majority owner how different game days would look around the ballpark the last few years. He was a big lift especially when Spanos did what he could to ruin SD Sports.

That deal was done long before he visited anyone.

I’d say it ‘could have been funny’ and it hit me that way at first. Just cuz of my own childhood.
But when I thought it might not have been meant to be funny, I could understand that too. I don’t think men of my dad’s era (1960’s-70’s) said it as often as we and sometimes even they wished they had.

That made me spit out my water. Literally. Funny.
If you are serious, and I hope you’re not…I’ve lived both sides of that coin. I’m a dad and somebody’s son (dad passed away), If your dad didn’t tell you he was proud of you, he probably was and couldn’t say it. I think my dad was a bit like that.

It’s hard to believe if they were hiring Niebla that he wouldn’t have been hired yet. They know the man, very well.

Why is it closing?

What if Schildt knows what he’s saying & doing. He’s the manager of a baseball team trying to get the most out of every player. Everyday.
He’s doing that. He’s not gonna diminish what the players have done from earlier this year to acknowledge how good they are playing now. It’s working.

My favorite Padre growing up. (Except Tony).

Billy, sorry to hear, but what a great tribute to your life as a Padre fan with your bro. I feel that brother connection and also moving away. Every year of my life I think of the friends and family who’ve waited along with us to win it all. But mostly of those that can’t be here. Keep the Faith!

He wins. Every year. Sometimes, baseball is as much about keeping the players believing in each other and the process than the in-game decisions. Long seasons in that clubhouse. He’s made the playoffs every single year he’s managed. Might want to let that hate go and let the love flow! Keep the Faith
