My hydrangea appears to be sprouting new shoots... in autumn (in the UK). Anyone else had experience of this? 🌱

Her husband gets a mention before any of her achievements too.

There's a lot of fungi out in the forest right now. I’ve no idea what any of them are, but they are fascinating to look at #fungi #newforest

The kids excitedly found this in the garden this evening. I think it is the catepillar of a elephant hawk moth. Cute, almost anime style eyes. Now safely back on a fushia 🐛🌱

This year seems to be particularly bad for them in the New Forest. Irksome creatures, but quite useful for microscope practice with the kids.

Heather is just beginning to come out in the New Forest. Another month and the whole place will be awash with pink.

Also found Todd the toad, Norman the newt, a frog (as yet unnamed) and a family of water shrews in the last couple of weeks. Amazing what dismantling a shed and playhouse uncovers.

Chuffed to find this little beauty in my garden today. Stag beetles are such amazing creatures (but utterly inept flyers 😂). So pleased my gardening strategy of 'benign neglect' is paying off. 🌱

Taking down the kids old playhouse today, and we found what I think are a litter of water shrews - simply the cutest little creatures! They were carefully and gently relocated to a safer part of the garden, with a stash of worms from the compost heap #nature #wildlife

Lovely selection of dinky little flowers this week for #wildflowerhour, creeping cinquefoil, grass vetchling and smooth tare. #nature, #flowers, 🌱

The spindle tree - this tiny, bland little flower, will, in a few months, produce the most exuberantly colourful berry. #wildflowerhour, #trees, #nature 🌱
