They do have some ties with Guava bikes and some gravel events. But they look like they're there to manage/market rebuild value in the asset on behalf of Stoneweg/SWI group. Wouldn't be surprised if Adams has some investments in SWI, and that's why it's all seemed to happen rather easily.

NSN & Stoneweg/SWI might be approaching this different? Buy a cheap asset due to image issues that has a 3yr WT licence, have a marketing company 'fix' its image, then on-sell it?

Barry Ryan has been doing some great work for them - basically any of his articles are an interesting read.

Also, who Mamdani is (DSA, Muslim, immigrant etc) probably won't be a recipe for nationwide, but his messaging - which largely focused on pocketbook issues - could be. And the way he communicated his message will likely be the gold-standard recipe for Dems going forward.

Others have covered below why the % isn't usefully comparable. Maybe the real story here is how incandescently mad centrist normie voters are not only at Trump, but also at Dem establishment politics. Many supported Mamdani, something of a shift in the Overton Window.
November 6, 2025 at 9:05 AM
To be fair, you got ratioed due to a fairly silly hot-take which could come across as centrist sour grapes. You often post interesting and insightful stuff, but I suspect you won't look back on that as the finest thing you've ever posted.

It's strange; his work as a historian seems well researched and respected. But he really seems prone to the occasional hot-take brain fart.
November 5, 2025 at 3:11 PM
Weird take. Both are real stories in different ways. VA & NJ overperformed. Mamdani, 35yr old DCA rep getting over 50% in a 3-way race featuring well-known centrist establishment Dem, while Mamdani was spurned by Dem national leadership from NYC? Also real story.

Yeah, I may have been stupid enough to look at that exact wikipedia page! If I'd engaged my brain, I should have at least remembered the Bonnamour case.

That's the 4th rider provisionally suspended in the past 5 months via the bio-passport, after no BP suspensions for a decade? Intrigued whether it's due to a change of approach, or whether the cases are related in some way.

Ding dong, the Dick is dead.
November 4, 2025 at 11:50 AM
Yeah, it’ll be super interesting to see how this case unfolds and what the actual data looks like, but also to understand a bit more how teams screen/test riders for this type of thing.
October 31, 2025 at 6:44 PM
Yeah, what I described is a dumbed-down explanation of how it works. But a fairly plausible explanation is the values/score weren’t quite suspicious enough to trigger a response initially, only in retrospect. Especially assuming RBH and Movistar were doing some basic due diligence too.
October 31, 2025 at 4:52 PM
The bio-passport is about building up a picture of the riders markers over time (rather than show traces of PEDS). A test in 2022 might not appear suspicious as a one-off snapshot, only to raise flags in retrospect, when a riders markers shift in later tests.

The "late" can even be seen as a positive. It gives "if you cheat, we're gonna get you, no matter how long it takes" vibes.
October 31, 2025 at 12:31 PM
The good: it shows riders that even if (allegedly) you/your doctor is clever enough to mess around in a way that doesn't throw up obvious BP red flags for awhile, you're then locked into your BP looking a certain way. Hopefully scares other young riders off from doing the same.
October 31, 2025 at 12:25 PM
Not enough information to say; for example BP markers could have been consistent enough not to raise flags during the Movistar years, but then there could have been a more recent test that then makes those markers look suspicious in retrospect.
October 31, 2025 at 9:55 AM
Good point - I wonder if it comes down to there being some kind of legal agreement between rider and team to make this type of statement. a straight-forward contamination case vs being accused of 3 years of BP irregularities is very different for a rider who may be contesting.
October 30, 2025 at 6:11 PM
I wonder if there's some legitimate legal reasons behind a team staying quiet until it's made official by the the UCI - either following UCI policy, or to prevent the possibility of a civil damages?

Not sure she's intending it that way? to me it reads like her saying he's a military history buff, so should have known at the time, but even if he weirdly somehow didn't, then he should have got it sorted right away once he found out.

It’ll be fascinating to see how she develops over the next couple of years for sure - her climbing has a bit to go, but then Holmgren was a way behind Bunel a year ago too.
October 18, 2025 at 6:54 PM
I hope she continues to develop, but for "the one" it's hard to look past Holmgren and her ability to already be near peak AVV numbers (according to LR analysis). Could easily see Chladoňová becoming the next Longo Borghini type rider though - so versatile and talented.
October 18, 2025 at 4:35 PM
It's hardly surprising; he's trying to cultivate the whole analytical insider thing, and no doubt doesn't want to rock the boat, when half the potential employers out there are engaged in some form of sportswashing.

When Pithie left FDJ for RBH, he said that it was the first time he'd done a proper altitude block. To be fair, FDJ are making improvements with this sort of thing, but I suspect they're still a way off best practice.
October 12, 2025 at 10:32 AM
True. I'd wondered if it would avoid that need if it still followed the same constitutional pathway - president still 'nominates' (all be it from a judicial recommended list) and senate still approves.
