What does it mean to "create"? To manifest novelty in the world? What separates true art from mere output? These are questions I engage with as I explore the intersection of human creativity and artificial intelligence in Collection #49. More about that on Facebook: www.facebook.com/share/p/1BUJ...

The so-called “independent” review organization, MES Peer Review Services, has rubber-stamped our health insurance Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah’s (@regenceutah.bsky.social) outright fraudulent denial of Perjeta (pertuzumab) for my wife Raven’s breast cancer treatment...

It is day 34 since Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah @regenceutah.bsky.social began denying coverage for Perjeta, a cancer drug prescribed in my wife's breast cancer treatment, claiming it is "investigational" with unknown benefits. This is pure BS and here's why:

Too many families are being bankrupted by medical debt in this country. It's time for universal healthcare, like every other developed nation on Earth. Let's unite for a system where everyone gets the care they need, no matter their income.

The U.S. healthcare system is in crisis. Despite spending $12,742 per person in 2022, almost twice the average of other wealthy countries, we aren't seeing better health outcomes. High costs are driven by exorbitant prices, not usage. We need systemic reform and universal healthcare NOW.

Day 33 since Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah @regenceutah.bsky.social began denying coverage for a cancer drug, Perjeta, in my wife's breast cancer treatment, claiming it is "investigational" after surgery if it has been used before surgery, despite FDA approving that EXACT protocol since 2017:

I did a rough global cost comparison of the cancer drug Perjeta, which Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah @regenceutah.bsky.social is currently denying coverage for in my wife's breast cancer treatment here in the USA. One of these things is not like the others. 😞

My wife, Raven, is currently receiving her second adjuvant infusion of the cancer drug Perjeta, as prescribed by her oncologist for the best prognosis, to prevent recurrence, & our health insurance Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah @regenceutah.bsky.social is denying coverage for it completely...

Almost to 1,000 signatures on our petition demanding that Blue Cross Blue Shield change their policy on the cancer drug Perjeta to align with all clinical guidelines and the FDA approval.

The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) also recommends Perjeta in my wife's case, both in the neoadjuvant AND adjuvant phases. That joins a growing list of industry standard clinical guidelines that endorse this protocol (NCCN, ASCO, NICE).

hey Regence BCBS of Utah, are you going to keep denying coverage for the drug that is critical in my wife's breast cancer treatment? Or are you going to realize your gross error, and approve this medicine? We are waiting, but our patience is wearing very thin. @regenceutah.bsky.social

Healthcare insurance does not care about our health. That is their big lie. Their purpose is to make a profit from our sickness, so they will insure/ensure that we stay sick. The sicker we are, the better their bottom line earnings. They are exchanging our lives for profits. That is their business.

I don't know how much clearer it could be that patients should receive PERJETA as part of neoadjuvant treatment. Then, AFTER surgery, the patient should CONTINUE to receive PERJETA in the post-neoadjuvant (adjuvant) treatment. This isn't hard, Regence. @regenceutah.bsky.social

I’ve reached out to every elected rep I can think of to plead for help with Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah’s @regenceutah.bsky.social denial of coverage for my wife Raven’s oncologist-prescribed, FDA-approved standard-of-care life-saving cancer treatment at Huntsman Cancer Institute...

Here is the Perjeta (pertuzumab) IV solution bag, currently being infused into my wife Raven for her breast cancer treatment. We had to sign paperwork this morning that if insurance Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah @regenceutah.bsky.social continues to deny coverage that we will pay $25,000+. 😢
