It was an incredible day for hail science yesterday here in Texas! First time handling/measuring/testing softball sized hail and larger. A big moment for advance our understanding of hail and its impacts yesterday for all involved! Lots of research forthcoming from this event.

Is appears we are close to a tornado in progress in Saint Louis, if it is not already in progress…

Magic Mountain is the riskiest theme park when it comes to wildfire with a long history of fires in the area(this map goes back to 1950). Other risky ones include Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, Universal Hollywood & Glenwood Canyon with Magic Springs, Lagoon and Great Escape in the next tier below.

Evacuation orders already expanding to the north. Hopefully out of an abundance of caution.

He wasn’t pointing at Caleb Downs, he was pointing at Texas’ empty trophy case for the 2024 season.

Really concerned about Paseo Miramar, where flamed are approaching. Key risks: Narrow roads, dense vegetation around houses and all the way up to the roads, making for little room for firefighters to fights. In some cases, vegetation on houses and palm trees over roofs. #PalisadesFire

On TV, a resident talked about how their condo has a firewall behind the neighborhood to protect it. However, there are many trees growing over the wall itself, which will pass the fire right over the wall, let alone the high winds depositing embers on the other side. #PalisadesFire

Abandoned cars on Palisades Dr about to be overtaken by the fast moving #PalisadesFire. KTLA reporter & cameraperson got waaaay too close and had to run down the hill due to flames rapidly encroaching. Can't understate how rapidly this situation is escalating. Horrifying.

Embers now falling near a KTLA reporter at Palisades Dr and Sunset Blvd. Wind is noticeably picking up on their live coverage. Lots of chaparral burning. I'd imagine aerial attack will be grounded soon. Very, very concerned. #PalisadesFire

I'm right in the 8 inch solid band, but also about 10 miles away from half that total snowfall. A rare pure snowfall without ice/sleet interference here.

It's not often you'll see someone walking right down the middle of N Fairfield Road by Fairfield Commons. One of our busiest commercial areas in the Dayton area.

View from the home office: A solid 6-8 inches of snow here. Lots of drifting and some compacting, so hard to get a true read of total snow.

Me any time I hear someone else has to listen to a tech bro pitch where they think they represent climate change with a single deterministic algorithm or magical black box with no disclosures…

Nasty frontal passage. Super windy, cold, rain & sleet. Gross.

Made this in Kindergarten in 1989. Despite being very fragile, it still holds on 35 years later…one of my favorites.

Couldn’t pass up a killer Black Friday 40% off deal on a griddle I’ve had my eyes on for a while. Broke it in with Chicken Fried Rice, which came out amazing!
