The LM317/LM318 boards are cheap and easily available.
I’ve also used the TPS7A54EVM-031 boards which can handle up to 4A.

I want to say that I’m also shocked to hear that this space application is a FIB predecessor, but I know the space race paved the way for so many areas of modern science and precision manufacturing.

I’m sure there were plenty of nay sayers at all of these tech companies. I’m sure people pointed out the dehumanizing aspects of the business models, but when companies only focus on the profit they don’t really care if it’s dehumanizing
