Combined losses from proposed Medicaid and SNAP cuts would reach $1.1 trillion over a decade, including a $95 billion loss of federal funding in 2026 alone. State gross domestic products (GDPs) would be $113 billion lower, exceeding federal budget savings.

I too am becoming more and more convinced that Trump is just plain nuts. We are entering King Lear and King George territory, and his supporters seem to be oblivious.
There Is No Method to Trump’s Madness. He’s Simply Insane.
His defenders try to apply reason to his erratic, nonsensical decisions. That’s a fool’s errand—but fools abound in this administration.

This ought to be a blaring siren warning. Disposal of empathy allowed the Nazi regime to do horrible things. Trump and Musk are already identifying the useless: immigrants, DEI hires (women, blacks, the handicapped, and other minorities who have aspirations), LGBTQ+ people, the mentally ill.

O’Malley: DOGE cuts could soon trigger Social Security system ‘collapse’

I hope O'Malley's predictions are wrong, but the proposed cuts seem utterly unsustainable to me.

So, here finally is a glimmer of hope. All; those court cases that have been fired over Trump's actions are finally bearing some fruit.
Trump Abruptly Walks Back His Directive To Fire Thousands Of Federal Employees
His administration is suddenly changing tactics after a federal judge ruled that its mass firings of probationary workers were probably illegal.

Every indication is that at spme point there will be such a dire emergency for America that Trump will have to declare martial law to deal with it. Never mind that he and his coconspirators are the ones laying the groundwork for such an emergency themselves. They don't care about our welfare at all.
Beware Trump’s Talk of Coming “Emergencies”
Far-right rhetoric is suffused with dark talk of impending calamities. It’s a favorite trope of autocrats who are, themselves, the calamity.

Trump told his cabinet, it's either the Musk way or the highway.

“Is anybody unhappy with Elon?” Trump asked. “If you are, we’ll throw him out of here. Is anybody unhappy?”

Please don't try to tell me this is not the behavior of a dictator, and Musk is his enforcer.

In case you weren't already aware of how riches corrupt, it is currently on full display in our nation. I always knew the rich, and especially the super rich, believed they were better than us. Now we are seeing how much they care about the rest of us. Not much.
It's the oligarchy, stupid.
