When I was in the army, I would mentor young officers. I told them all that at some point in their military career they would be asked to do something immoral, unethical, or illegal. And that it was on them to recognize it and to keep their honor clean.

It is a dystopian novel written as a historical review from a far future looking at the fomenting of a leftist revolution in the US.
Apart from some great Leftist praxis, it details the Fascist crackdown fairly explicitly.
