Trying to do my part. First coal, now gas/oil. Rewilding in my spare time.
New study on cancer dangers of gas stoves: "High gas stove usage without proper ventilation greatly increases cancer risks, often surpassing WHO limits." And, "[d]ouble the risk for kids." The gas industry has known this for decades...and never disclosed. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

And so it finally happened. Zero carbon electricity exceeded coal and natural gas for the first time. This is what a fossil fuel phaseout looks like. #keepgoing

This is building related emissions. Look how the electricity emissions have come down nicely -as we turn off coal. But look at direct emissions - natural gas - have stayed exactly same for thirty years. No progress. #heatpumpstotherescue

Meanwhile we keep building solar and storage.

Back in Fresno and less than half mile of visibility. Breathing from the tail pipes of millions of ICE vehicles and millions of gas appliances (along with ag burning) comes at huge cost.

Great RMI site-tracking sales of heatpumps & gas furnaces. The good: heatpumps are winning. The bad: we got work ahead to shrink 300,000/month gas furnace sales. Climate goals basically phase out gas system by 2040...are manufacturers/installers warning consumers? rmi.org/insight/trac...

Coal trains in Richmond. Next to homes, the bay, no covers, in California. This is what we export, in the 21st Century?

This is not ok. Burning natural gas, oil, and wood in our homes and vehicles cloaking us in harmful levels of pollution. Phasing in zero emission vehicles, appliances, boilers can't come soon enough.

To be zero emissions by 2050 means free of fossil fuels for vehicles and buildings by 2040. This includes use of natural gas in bldgs. Canada, like many countries is behind schedule, but impt initial step, ending rebates for gas appliances. www.theglobeandmail.com/business/ind...
