Atoman—our first dabble in film financing—is hitting screens! Never thought I'd add Co-Producteur Exécutif to my resumé (and anyone who ever tried to teach me French would be shocked!).

Sinners' second weekend performance is ridiculous!
Sinners is headed for the third-best hold in history for a movie that opened over $40 million!

As I said a few weeks ago, Warner Bros. should have been applauded for taking a risk on Mickey 17. This weekend they'll be rewarded for taking a risk on Sinners. That's exactly how this business should work!

When I am feeling cynical, I often turn to this slim volume: _On Tyranny_, by Timothy Snyder. It's both a tonic and a call to action. It's both idealistic and wholly practical ("scrub your computer of malware on a regular basis"). And it's even more powerful when presented by John Lithgow.
Here is my best guidance for action, rendered beautifully by the great John Lithgow. I first published these lessons more than eight years ago, in late 2016. They open the twenty chapters of "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century."

As movie theaters invest in upgrades, and the share of sales from premium tickets increases, keeping the average ticket price the same in inflation-adjusted terms means that theater goers are getting a bigger bang for their buck. There's a huge amount of work going on behind that top-line number.

Word is Dog Man could hit $30 million this weekend, but our model is unmoved.

Scientists and/or nerds: what’s a geologic or natural event we don’t talk about enough, in your opinion?

Mine is the Zanclean flood, ie “the straight of Gibraltar went ‘oop’ and the Atlantic rushed in fast enough to form the Mediterranean Sea in <2 years”

Just in time for Thanksgiving, we published our full theatrical market prediction for 2025 today. I'm proud to say our 2024 prediction should be within 2% of this year's final total, after being out by only 6% in 2023. We'll see how we do this year...

We have the final trailer for Gladiator II. Honestly, I thought the original Gladiator was a good movie but overhyped. I do get the technical brilliance of these films, but the story just left me a little cold last time.

Our weekend predictions are up, with Furiosa headed to the weekend win based on our model's analysis.

The openers should earn around $60 million between them, which traditionally would be very modest for the number one film over Memorial Day.

Building the infrastructure that will allow consumers to trust the integrity of the content they are watching is a big challenge. I'm proud to be playing a role in making it happen.
