If you only accept studies that can't ethically be done, you guarantee you'll never accept reassuring data. The goalposts will always move.

9/ He's showing mortality curves declining before vaccines. Mortality fell with better supportive care — iron lungs, antibiotics for secondary infections, IV fluids. But incidence remained high. Kids kept getting infected, paralyzed, and left with permanent neurologic injury until vaccines arrived.
