FYI I got a “Nonce verification failed” message when trying to comment on this post today. Not sure if you banned me or if there was something wrong on your settings. I did notice no comments to this post, which is unusual for your audience.

Awww shucks, that little rascal is at it again!

Wait. How on earth can insurance companies make money if they can’t collect premiums and then refuse to pay out claims?

I mean, capitalism, right?

I don’t think this is true. It certainly seems intuitive, but I can’t find any confirmation of this outside of individual social media posts.

Thank “God” it didn’t actually happen, but if it had, why on earth would “so that prophecy would be fulfilled” be a good enough reason to justify all of that suffering?

Historicity claims miss the point of these stories and the intentions of their authors.

Either that or this God is a monster.

I was watching a YouTube video of Alex O’Connor and Bart Ehrman talking about the Matthew 2:13-23 story about Herod killing all baby boys under 2 years old, where all of this alleged pain and suffering (which certainly wasn’t historical) happened “so that prophecy would be fulfilled.”

Have you read the order? The 45 day deadline for the assessment (specifically of foreign interference in an election ) the DNI happened on December 19, 2024.

Has this assessment been completed, and were there any recommendations to challenge results?

Are you saying that they could be challenged now, after the electoral vote is certified?

I’m hoping RFK Jr has served his purpose and will be discarded unceremoniously when his ability to distract our attention is no longer needed.

Not sure where this hope comes from, but at this point I’m glad some sort of hope persists in me…

And by trends I mean a side by side comparison of Biden/Trump/3rd-party/nobody 2020 vs Harris/Trump/3rd-party/nobody 2024. For every single state, swing and non-swing.

Bannon’s all, “racism is my gig—butt out, apartheid assholes!”
January 12, 2025 at 1:41 PM
Only if the swing state non-vote trends were significantly different from the county average .

I haven’t delved deeply into those numbers. I can’t bear to look.

If there was actually something there in the swing state split ticket numbered, do you actually believe that Harris would just give up?
January 12, 2025 at 12:38 PM
Compare those three numbers 2020 vs 2024.

Too many people—primarily Biden voters—sat on the couch.
January 11, 2025 at 9:57 PM
Look at some non-swing states like NY. While he didn’t win there, the Dem margins were way down and total number of votes were as well — more so for Harris than Trump.

Split it out by looking at votes for Harris, votes for Trump, and non-voters (voting eligible population minus total votes cast).
January 11, 2025 at 9:56 PM
I don’t think they were all, or even mostly, split Democrat/Trump on the ticket level. Many were Democrat/None.

I haven’t been able to find specific data on the ticket level, have you?

I was fresh out of school with a BS in a technical degree with no experience in 1993 and was working retail and bouncing at a bar.

My friend’s daughter is in the same educational/experience situation today and turned down a 6-figure offer for a better 6-figure offer…

About a third of all eligible voters sit out every election.
January 11, 2025 at 2:43 PM
And don’t forget—the people who didn’t bother to vote at all decided this election, not the people who voted for Trump (or Harris, for that matter).

Those are the people undermining democracy.
