As someone who is up for the challenge I didn't mind that as much, but it was definitely a challenge at first I remember that.

I recognize that the game is great and the mechanics are well developed, but I got to an area that was just soooo annoying to go through. And then I would get to an encounter where dying meant I had to go through the annoying area again!

balancing has always been a beast to handle for me, and with metroidvanias like the ones you mentioned i'm sure it only gets worse and worse the more mechanics you try to give the player over the course of the game.
