John Mantagu, the 4th Earl of Questwich, would be intrigued.

Trump did however won the popular vote in 2024. Also, how can it even be this close to 50-50? Every country has a fascist party, but they don't get 50% of the votes. That's not even the case in the most inhospitable German states. And frankly, the modern German Nazis aren't as bad as Trump.

I blame mass media. Brains have been boiling for decades, now. Trump got elected as an 'authentic' shitspouting TV personality because he promised, at the very least, to be entertaining.
Whereas in a real country, that clown would have been laughed out of the room, but plenty of countries fail here

You cannot extrapolate NYC to the US as a whole. You cannot even extrapolate Philadelphia to the whole of Pennsylvania, so I fear that the 'radical centrists' do have some legitimate scepticism.
Again, Obama was pretty Centrist, too, wasn't he? He would have annihilated Trump, hands down.

That is nice and inspires optimism. That shitheads only get punished once they are in office is the same in other countries, too. Still, the levels of CRINGE were alfeady bad before 2024, so something is seriously wrong with post-Obama Dems.

Not convinced that 'true progressivism with a Marx avatar' is a necessary ingredient. Lots of far more 'boring' + centrist options exist that aren't as cringe and fascist as the MAGA party.
If you didn't suck it up and voted for Harris in 2024, you're part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Real talk from someone outside the US: how apocalyptically bad must the Democrats be that they don't mop the floor with these ghouls in each and every election? I get that FoxNews et al are a powerful propaganda machine, but.... holy fuck, what is wrong with you?

Still, the only way to make sure is to vote in enormous numbers impossible to fix.

It is Banana republic stuff for a gvnmt to prosecute members of the opposition if the opposition doesn't consent to this. See the current Costa Rica elections where the outgoing president will be indicted, no matter what, if he doesn't keep immunity.
February 3, 2026 at 2:18 PM
Well, the Epstein stuff is special, so the government's enthusiasm to prosecute one 'of their own' is entirely based on that.
If Mandelson was just a petty crook with no connection to the biggest scandal of the 21st century, Laboir would just try to forget him.
February 3, 2026 at 2:15 PM
Is BoJo in the Epstein list? Also, a Labour government going after Tories without their explicit support or at least consent is Banana Republic stuff.

The sulfuric acid / aerosol injection concept will definitely be attempted by China, India, maybe the US. That one has at least has some basis in reality since it is cheap, the technology exists today, and the effects would kick in fast. Side effects will be ignored, of course.

That lettuce did great psychological damage.

Noam Chomsky self-denounced multiple times with his rancid takes on Syria and Ukraine. Anyone who ever championed this morally rotten pervert is probably either on the Epstein list or sad to not have gotten the opportunity in time.

January 31, 2026 at 9:14 AM
Unless every single adult Trump family + regime member gets sent to prison and multiple ones get effectively life sentences, the Rule of Law will not have returned to the US.

But if indeed the non-EVs will die out naturally, then it is also is of little impact that they will be banned. Hence, the defenders of the ban were also those who wasted everyone's time.

Widespread stupidity is indeed a hallmark of our times...
