These are really cool, Don.

This painting got an honorable mention at the Oregon State Fair. That is the first time I've had paintings on public display. I appreciate how accessible the fair is for people to display their work. #oilpainting, #art, #alien, #painting, #Statefair #OregonStateFair, #Oregon

Thanks for the response. I was trying Michael Harding non-absorbing acrylic primer pozzuoli red earth (semi-transparent). It's like clay and doesn't spread or dissolve well. It's almost solid. Is that normal?

What material are you applying? I tried Pozzouli Red Earth, and I can't seem to get that consistency.

Thanks. They are a mix of places I photographed. Smith Rock, Mt Lassen, Lake Louise, and others.

Thank you. I took tons of pictures of them on the Oregon Coast.

One way I deal with that is really small sketches in boxes measured to the right proportion. Then you know you want something to occupy a predetermined space while you're up close with your drawing. The up close time usually leads me to avoid risk, shrink the object, and I get a boring result.

Hyper focus and a 0.3 lead can make impressive results regardless of experience. I did one exercise that changed my detail level overnight. It was taping half of a magazine photo to paper and drawing the other side to match. I just kept focusing to a finer and finer level of detail.

Thanks, there probably are some smudges that just aren’t showing up. I used fine tip mechanical pencils on a heavy white paperboard and tried to keep it as clean as possible.

Thank you for offering. I'm sorry, but I gifted it away years ago.
