I suppose we'll have to wait and see on the "bad teams" point; I have no drive to argue about something that hasn't happened yet, or the details of who is more "deserving". I think the process to determine who is present in the playoffs should be, and already is, fair.

More fair? maybe not. but I don't think that was ever the goal, nor should it be. Sports are inherently about entertainment, and this is undoubtedly more exciting and fun than the old format. Also it will obviously generate more money, which is always the incentive for those in control.
