The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson currently. About halfway through, really interested to see how things play out.

Just finished watching 08th MS Team with a couple friends a week or two back. Honestly, yeah it's nice to have a good self-contained side story. I like large parts of the UC, but the timeline can get weird and the various reboots and alternate takes don't help at all.
