I categorize country singers into artists and performers. Artists write songs, play instruments and sing. Performers interpret songs that others have written.

I tend to prefer artists.

I forget where I heard it, but someone said that there are two kinds of country music: beer country and whiskey country.
I prefer whiskey country.
