I think they’re a given when we’re shoehorning a bunch of useless players from another system into one they’ve never played.

The alternative would likely be trying to keep heads above water this season with another shit system (ten Hag’s) then go through all these growing pains next season.
Maybe he thinks our best chance in the short term is to go through the rough patch now and be ready next season?
